Civil Wedding

Civil weddings are celebrated in Sala Giunta of the City Hall on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10.00 am to 11.30 am or in Villa Reale.

Weddings are celebrated by the Mayor or by one of his representatives in the presence of two witnesses.
If both bridegrooms or just one of them has no knowledge of the Italian language it is necessary to involve an interpreter.
The wedding may be celebrated even in a different municipality where you reside if you express this will to the Civil registrar with a written request on legal paper, and specifying the municipality where you want to get married and the reasons of this choice.
Wedding may be celebrated outside the City Hall only in two cases:

1. if one of the bridegrooms (or both) is physically unable to reach the City Hall for disability or another serious reason.
The inability must be proved by the declaration of a doctor or a public official

2. if there is an imminent danger of life for one or both bridegrooms and so he/she is / they are unable to reach the City Hall,; this condition must be certified by a doctor.

Weddings can be celebrated starting from the 4th day following the date of the banns, and no later than 180 days from this date.

The bridegrooms have to make arrangements with the Civil registrar and show up with two witnesses.
